Paris Fashion Week: John Galliano

Saturday, 19 March 2011

The name says it all: John Galliano. Glamour, exceptional craftsmanship, incredible garments, shapes, colors and materials, bold lips in dark colors, sophisticated exaggeration. I still can't believe what happened in the beginning of this fashion week - the scandal, the inquiries, the firing and the rehab, it's such a shame that such a talented designer had to go through this whole ordeal and it still seems surreal that he could do such things. I hope he is going to recover and that this is not going to be the last we hear of him, because he is one of the most innovative and creative designers out there.

After the whole scandal, everybody was questioning whether they will go through with his runway show or not. What was finally decided, due to all the negative publicity, was to transform the show in a small private viewing of some of the garments in a townhouse on Avenue Foch. The setting was perfect, very intimate yet still very glamorous. It was a real pity that we didn't get to see the whole collection, because it would have been stunning! The pieces we did see were exquisite - a 40s glamour inspired collection with beaded or sheer floor-length dresses, magnificent coats, fur collars and mysterious hats. The shoes were insane an the headpieces were amazing! I loved every single piece! Here are the garments they presented:
