Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week: Jean Paul Gaultier

Jean Paul Gaultier's show at the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week in January was extraordinary, full of life and surprises from the beginning till the end. As to revive the old runway shows habits from the beginning of haute couture (like let's say Chanel in the 1920s and 30s), each dress was presented by its name by Catherine Deneuve and the models were holding in their hands a card with the number of the dress on it. This got you into a special atmosphere instantly, so different from other shows. The dresses were very sober in the beginning only to end up in an explosion of colors and shapes. We can see very elegant and feminine shapes, bold colors and mixes of patterns, fringes, lace and even an evening gown in Jean Paul Gaultier's famous sailor stripes pattern. This show was definitely haute couture at its finest! It's really hard to pick my favorite pieces, as there are so many of them, so here is quite an extensive presentation of the show that I'm sure you're going to love:
