Label: Alexander Wang
Model: Raquel Zimmermann
Photographer: Fabien Baron
On a completely different note than yesterday's fall ad campaign (not to get you bored!) here is the dark and powerful campaign for Alexander Wang's fall collection. Shot in an abandoned warehouse in New York by Fabien Baron, ex-artistic director of Vogue France, the photos are accompanied by a short movie that was projected from a truck on the streets of New York for the launch of the campaign.
Halfway between artistic creation and an actual publicity video, this kind of promotion seems to be more and more coveted by the big fashion Houses nowadays. What do you think about this idea? Does it increase the attractiveness of the brand through the quality of the production and the innovative spirit it brings forward or can it be interpreted as a step towards mainstream that could prove in the end be harmful to the high end appeal of these brands? In my opinion if these short films are made in such an artistic way they can only be beneficial to the brand, stressing even more the close relationship between art and fashion (and I have in mind here the exquisite short film directed by karl Lagerfeld for his Croisiere collection this year - The Tale of a Fairy).
You can see the video right after the shots for the campaign:

I really like these shots! Normally I think using rain can make things overly dramatic, but in this case, it works really well!
So true Blue! The rain could make the shots too exaggerated, but Raquel keeps her natural poses despite the rains and that's what makes all the difference in these shots!
