The Costume Institute Gala, more well known as The Met Ball, is the annual ball that celebrates the opening of The Met's fashion exhibit. Described as the fashion industry's Night of Nights and considered as the fashion world's best red carpet event by the fashion press worldwide, the event is organized and hosted by Vogue and the costs are shared by Vogue and Chanel. Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour oversees even the smallest details and especially the list of celebrity invitees.
This year's theme was dictated by the exhibition that opened yesterday - Prada and Schiaparelli: Impossible Conversations and the guests did their best to be at the height of the event. Flowy floor length gowns, mini dresses and tuxedos were the true stars of the night. Among my favorite gowns were clearly the bold colored ones, such as Diane Kruger's purple wonder, Diana Agron's green frock and the canary yellow Versace dress worn by Mad Men's January Jones. However there were a lot of other beautiful dresses out there. Here's my selection of the best dressed celebrities. Look out for the eye candy at the end!

Cate B and Lana DR were the best dressed of the night for me. Amy Adams is shining with her gown and hair too. The worst is Anja R. Heidi K's outfit is disappointing this time.
Love Anna's simple white dress and LOVE her daughter's Erdem. Also love Sofia's, Scarlet's and Cate's. This is a great selection--hadn't seen most of these!
OMG everyone looks STUNNING love the color of Diana Agron's dress. Have you seen Camilla Belle's dress? She looked absolutely stunning!

I love this gala, i enjoy so much watching all those pretty dresses.. but some of them are pretty bad, i hated anja rubik dress, well not so much the dress but her leg hanging out like that... the men looked pretty good!

wow anja rubik is almost naked :) i think there were lots of very very nice looks at the metball,but there were also some horrible dresses and stylings,ashley olsen looked like a grandma :)

I'm not impressed with most of the outfits! Although I really liked Rooney Mara's, January Jones,and Emma Roberts'. But I find Anja Rubik's dress, hideous. Especially with that waist bone sticking out. So ugly!
