Even though I'm on the other side of Europe as we speak, I spread my tentacles up to my friend Bogdan's camera last week and got the best shots from this year's Street Delivery event in Bucharest for you! Thanks for being my long distance camera this year! For those of you who don't know what this event is about, it's one of the best initiatives of the last few years that tries to show people how Bucharest could look like if it had a larger pedestrian area. The idea is to close a street in the centre of the city for the time of a week-end - in this case Pictor Verona St. - and turn it into a multifunctional space: partly outdoor fair, partly exhibition centre, it also sets the stage for street performers of all kinds and free concerts and also has places where you can sit down and have a drink. The project is one of the highlights of summer every year since it was launched! (you can see the pictures from last year's event in the Street Delivery section of my blog here) Despite the cloudy and sometimes rainy weather the people were as enthusiastic this year as during the last editions and the event was a total success.

On the menu: a lot of great new projects, interesting artists, intriguing street art, crafts workshops, vintage clothes and of course this year's main graffiti on the big wall. Here are some general pictures to get you into the atmosphere:

Last but not least I have to mention a really great project that is part of the Street Delivery for the first time this year: Sufragerie Urbana. Created by a handful of architecture students last year and translated as the Urban Livingroom, this project is based on the idea of exchange - be it objects or opinions - and bringing private spaces into public areas. A cosy, private setting was created where people could enjoy a good cup of tea and quality conversation while exchanging objects they no longer used and taking interesting objects left behind by others. When they're not at Street Delivery, they can usually be found a few times a year on a small dead-end street in Bucharest near Pache Protopopescu Bd.
