Late Winter or Snowy Spring?

Thursday, 28 March 2013

I don't know how the weather's been like where you leave, but it's been snowing for the past two days here! Don't get me wrong, I really like snow, but isn't it about time for the sun to start shining and for girls to wear breezy pastel-colored dresses and sunglasses while enjoying a bike ride? This will probably be the most realistic means of transportation for the next few days around here haha! I would love to go on a ride in this reindeer-drawn gondola!

How's the weather for you at the moment?

Famous Photographers: Bryan Adams

Friday, 15 March 2013

A less known fact about Canadian rocker Bryan Adams is that for the past 10 years he has been leading a double artistic life as a musician, but also as a photographer. His passion for photography was spurred as he started shooting his own album covers and ever since he has collaborated with some of the biggest fashion magazines in the world, such as Harper's Bazaar, Esquire or Interview, shooting musicians, actors and models. The musician describes himself as "a portrait photographer that dabbles in fashion" and he says that the special thing about the way he works is that he always lets people be themselves. Have a look at this collection of photos from his first book, Exposed:

Coca Cola Light by Marc Jacobs

Thursday, 14 March 2013

A lot of famous designers have reinvented the Diet Coke bottles and cans over the past few years. Joining the ranks of Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld or Versace, this year it was Marc Jacobs's turn to be appointed its creative director. In 2013 Diet Coke turns 30, so the designer wanted to illustrate a different decade on the bottles. The eighties bottle shows an androgynous power woman, the nineties show the glamorous woman and finally the turn of the millennium reveals an eclectic woman, free to express herself in  any way she wants. The stunning model featuring in the ads alongside the designer is Ginta Lapina.

Explaining his motivation behind this collaboration, Marc Jacobs said that "Andy Warhol once said: 'The great thing about Coke is that Nancy Reagan's Coke tastes the same.' I don't like that ivory tower of fashion, that snobbery. Things should be honest.". Have a look at these great ads!

Paris Fashion Week AW 2013: Lanvin

Friday, 1 March 2013

After the first few days of more lacklustre names on the schedule, Paris Fashion Week started off yesterday with the big guns: an eclectic collection by Alber Elbaz for Lanvin. The variety of garments, shapes, fabrics and prints makes this collection quite hard to describe through a theme or a clear destination, but what it definitely was is stunning! The collection was designed as to fit a woman's ever changing moods and ideas - a tailored suit here, a silk day dress there all our longings in one show. The dark color palette was mixed with more natural, skintone colors and the styling was different, depending on the garments - a bold red lip matched the and a dark purple smoky eye for the.

A very interesting touch were the necklaces and brooches with words imitating the handwriting, such as hello, love, happy or cool. Among may favorite looks were the black blouse with the embroidered white roses, the navy dress worn by Cara Delevigne, the red and black dress, the black and white dress with the ruffled top, the elegant furs, the taupe ruffled top and of course the simple pale pink dress worn by Ginta Lapina and the last gown. here is my selection of the best looks from the runway:
